Questions

Do I need internet?

No. Speech and AI run on your Mac. The first time you use a language, its system speech model is downloaded, and the built-in model is downloaded once if you choose it.

Which Mac do I need?

macOS 26 or later, ideally a Mac with Apple Silicon. The built-in model needs 8 GB of RAM.

What if my Mac doesn't have Apple Intelligence?

Dilo uses its own model, with no keys or accounts. If you prefer, you can also connect your OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter or Ollama account.

Does a bot join my calls?

No. Dilo records your microphone and the audio of your Mac. Tell participants before you record a meeting.

Can it transcribe a podcast or a YouTube video?

Yes. Dilo records whatever your Mac plays, from any app, together with your mic if you want. Press fn M, let it play, and you get the transcript and the summary as a file. It is a Pro feature.

Which apps can I dictate into?

Any app where you can paste with ⌘V. It doesn't work in password fields or in apps that block pasting.

Does the Pro license expire or need re-buying for 2.0?
